On this two day tour to Meteora, we visit a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Meteora is a remarkable rock formation in central Greece hosting one of the largest and most dramatically built complexes of Eastern Orthodox monasteries, second in importance only to Mount Athos.

The six monasteries are built on immense natural pillars and rounded boulders that dominate the local landscape. We can also explore old ruined monasteries and nearby archaeological attractions, including the Byzantine Church of Virgin Mary and the Prehistoric Cave of Theopetra.

Meteora lies near Kalambaka, at the northwestern edge of the Plain of Thessaly near the Pineios River and the Pindus Mountains. Besides monastery visits, the area offers opportunities for hiking, rock climbing, and other outdoor activities.
